Editorial: Transit agreement must be sustainable

After a strike loomed over Pittsburgh for four months when both sides failed to agree on a new contract for Port Authority workers, a tentative settlement was reached Tuesday in Washington, D.C., with the aid of the AFL-CIO and top union leaders…

As everyone learns more about the accord, let’s be mindful that the best deal is not one that merely keeps the buses rolling. It must do that and give the transit system reasonable terms for securing its future. For that, all of Pittsburgh would give thanks.
